May 10 is the anniversary of Santa Clara v. Southern Pacific Railroad, the 1886 Supreme Court case that set the stage for 2010's infamous Citizens United decision.
To mark the occasion, we're heading to the I-5 overpass at S 320th in Federal Way with a banner that reads, "Corporation Are Not People".
Giant transnational corporations have only one motivation: profit. They seek to use the twin notions of corporate personhood and money as speech to exercise power over the earth, its resources and its people and to choose elected representatives who will do their bidding.
But Move To Amend is a growing people-powered movement seeking to overturn wrong-headed Supreme Court decisions such as Santa Clara and Citizens United to return power over elections and government to We The People by declaring that Constitutional rights belong only to natural persons and that spending money from corporate treasuries is not equivalent to speech.
Come out and celebrate with us and tell the world: CORPORATION ARE NOT PEOPLE!
ALSO: After bannering, join us at Starbucks at the Commons in Federal Way at 6:00pm to discuss forming a Move To Amend affiliate for King County!!
