In McCutcheon v. FEC, the Supreme Court will decide whether or not to uphold a law that says that no one person can contribute over $123,000 directly to federal candidates, parties, and committees (that’s over twice the average American’s income).
We don’t need the Court to do any more damage to our democracy. Shaped by the Court’s past decisions, the current system of campaign finance already allows a tiny percentage of wealthy Americans to dominate our elections and political process.
The solution to this poison is the We the People Amendment. In the face of another Supreme Court ruling aimed a further making democracy not only impossible, but actuallyy illegal, it is time for us to stand up.
Sign the Resist to Amend Pledge to commit to take action if the Court rules against We the People in McCutcheon v. FEC.
"I pledge, if necessary, to join others in my community, and engage in acts of dignified, peaceful civil disobedience that could result in my arrest in order to send the message to the Supreme Court and the Congress of the United States that we must amend the Constitution to state that corporations are not people and money is not free speech."
corporations should be separate from government
money is not free speech
corporations should not be allowed to lie
corporations should be accountable if they steal pennies from millions
